The Psychotechnic future history — begun over half a decade before Anderson's first Polesotechnic League story was published — is comprised of stories and novels written mostly between 1950 and 1957. Anderson's first future history chronicles the rebirth of civilization after an imagined World War III and humanity's eventual advance to the stars.
