Best place to search for used books online:

www.addall.com/used

Looks like the publisher was Garland; I suggest you put that in the "Description" field, otherwise you'll get many pages of paperbacks.
I see only one copy there, and it ain't cheap!

And yes, according to Amazon.com, the 1st hardcover edition was
published in 1975. Pretty pricey for such a recent book!

Sorry, didn't read your message closely enough the first time. The Garland hardcover published in 1975 _is_ the first hardcover edition of ~Viking~. More recently, there have been other hardcover editions from folks like AEgypan and Wildside. Details are here:

http://www.zarthani.net/future_history_bibliography.htm

The Garland hardcover is very rare. The AEgypan and Wildside editions can be had for about $30.

Good luck,

David

There is a list of all of Piper's first publications, including the 1962-63 serialization of ~Space Viking~ in ~Analog~, here:

http://www.zarthani.net/h_beam_piper_bibliography.htm

You can probably pick up all four issues of the serialization at ABEbooks, com or at eBay.

Good luck,

David

"~Space Viking~ itself is . . . a yarn that will be cited, years hence, as one of the science-fiction classics. It's got solid philosophy for the mature thinker, and bang-bang-chop-'em-up action for the space-pirate fans. As a truly good yarn should have!" - John W. Campbell, 1962

I am looking for a 1st edition of space viking hard cover... The story was printed in a magizine first correct? The paper back came out in 1963 but the only hard cover I found was 1975. Can anyone clear this up for me and point in the right direction to look?
